“B&Bs, guesthouses and small hotels are the
backbone of the Irish hospitality industry …” (Francis
Brennan)
Francis and John Brennan
AT YOUR SERVICE had a hugely successful first outing in
autumn 2008, achieving an average audience share of 37%.
Francis and John Brennan, proprietors of the famous 5-star
Park Hotel Kenmare, Co. Kerry, will once again present the
series. The Brennans bring many years of top-level experience
across the thresholds of ailing small businesses, and aim
to inspire other proprietors to up their game and attract
more trade.
Last series we featured:
Poulaphouca House, Co. Wicklow which was transformed into
a romantic wedding venue.
The Ravine Hotel, Lisdoonvarna which updated its old-fashioned
rooms and was encouraged to exploit its food trade.
Beach Haven House & Hostel, Tramore, Co. Waterford -
the Brennans helped position the business in the marketplace,
differentiating between its B&B, studio catering and
hostel businesses.
Lahinch Golf Lodge in Co. Clare which was advised to change
focus from golf to the new lucrative surf market.
Tara Green B&B, Shannon, Co. Clare where the rooms were
updated and long-term plans for changing the business model
were put into place.
The Old Rectory, Shannon Harbour, Co. Offaly which was put
onto the hospitality map with signage, website, etc. ensuring
it was no longer part of “Hidden Ireland”.
Glenribbeen Lodge, Lismore, Co. Waterford which was encouraged
to make the most of its green credentials and aim for EU
accreditation.
Cherryville House in Kildare where rooms were upgraded to
better suit the needs of the 21st century traveller, without
losing its homely feel.
