Flickerpix Animations in BAFTA winning film

Living with alcoholLiving With Alcohol - A documentary for CBBC has just won the BAFTA for best Children’s Factual program.

Flickerpix Animation Studios, based in Holywood Co. Down, produced over 7 minutes of specially commissioned animation for this hard hitting 14 minute documentary, broadcast during the world cup season on CBBC.

The programme focuses on the issue of alcohol from a child’s perspective and tells the story of three children whose lives have been affected by their parents' relationship with drink. It was specially commissioned for CBBC’s Newsround slot, currently the UK’s only dedicated news programme aimed at pre-teens.

Director / producer Lizzy Lambley commented: “Flickerpix Animations contributed hugely to the Newsround special. From concealing identities to illustrating children's memories, their animations made what can be a difficult subject to talk about more digestible for our audience - without taking away the reality of the subject matter.”

Previous Newsround specials have covered subjects like internet safety, school bullying and bereavement.
