The celebrities on this tour of discovery are Eurovision superstar Dana, Olympian David Gillick, Senator David Norris, rock journalist and broadcaster Victoria Mary Clarke, Crystal Swing’s frontman Derek Burke and comedian Alison Spittle. In each episode one celebrity takes the lead, bringing their fellow travellers on their chosen itinerary. So will they all get on, or will sparks fly?
Marrakesh (tour led by Senator David Norris)
First up, it’s Senator David Norris whose natural enthusiasm for Marrakesh shines through as they embark on a walking tour of the city starting at the Koutobia Mosque, before stopping off to see the famous Yves Saint Laurent Majorelle Gardens and shopping for carpets. In the evening time it’s all change as they enjoy a caleche ride, meet snake charmers and eat sheep’s brains!
Marrakesh (Victoria Mary Clarke)
Still in Marrakesh, it’s Victoria Mary Clarke’s turn to take the lead and the day starts as they take to the skies in a hot air balloon at dawn to enjoy spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains. Then Victoria takes them souk shopping where they must haggle for traditional outfits to wear later for dinner. Derek takes to the stage with the musicians to play the bongos.
Atlas Mountains & Agafay Desert (Derek Burke)
Derek Burke takes the group to the market town of Asni and buys a goat as a gift for Berber villagers before taking mules from Imlil to a mountain kasbah. They travel on to the Agafay Desert for camel riding, dune buggies and a special birthday celebration for one of our celebrities at the campfire.
Casablanca & Rabat (Dana)
Next to Casablanca where Dana takes the group to Rick’s Café for a special performance. Next our celebrities row boats from Rabat to its sister city of Salé and Dana challenges them to take part in an art competition beside the river, before she delights them with a special rendition of her Eurovision winning song All Kinds of Everything.
Fez (Alison Spittle)
Alison Spittle takes the lead in Fez, home to the world’s oldest university. After a tour of the city it’s hammam for the men, a spa for the girls and a visit to a henna party at a traditional Moroccan home, before enjoying sunset at the Merindes Tombs.
Volubilis & Chefchaouen (David Gillick)
In this last of his series, David Gillick leads the group to Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins at Volubilis, before visiting Moulay Idriss, the country’s most important religious city. The tour ends in Chefchaouen, the “blue city”, for a cooking class in a local home and a photography challenge. How will technophobe Senator David Norris cope?
